Congratulations to Michael Vink on taking out the NZ U23 road and time trial titles this weekend in Christchurch.

Vink sat calmly in the bunch for much of the 183km race before riding off the front with Jeremy Vennell to reel in a solo breakaway rider.

Vink made his race winning move on the second to last lap, dropping Vennell on the climb and going solo for the finish. Behind him James Williamson joined Vennell and in the last lap they clawed back most of Vink's 60 second lead.

But Vink was too good holding on to win the U23 title and overall honours by just six seconds in front of a screaming home crowd.
